Digital Switch Over

At the end of 2012, homes in the UK will have to switch over to digital TV, as the Government will be switching off the existing analogue TV service. .

Switchover will upgrade the transmission network. Switchover will upgrade the transmission network to the best available technology and ends the costs of broadcasting the same content on analogue and digital.

The Government has announced a Help Scheme for some people who may have difficulty in going digital. This scheme is being funded by the BBC licence fee. If you are eligible you will receive equipment, help with installation and follow-up support, either free or for a subsidised fee.

If you have an analogue TV set, you’ll still be able to use it after the switchover… you can view digital TV channels by connecting your TV to a digital TV receiver
