HDTV Ready is a screen that will allow you to watch television with clear sharp pictures. HDTV twill have from 720 to 1080 lines to produce a picture. Most HD resolutions are either 720 (progressive) or 1080 (interlaced). These are often broken down to 720p, 1080i or 1080p. 1080p is consider to produce the better picture quality.
HD Television is being slowly rolled out is the UK with the BBC HD service along with ITV. SKY television provide a their own HD service with an additional payment of £10 per mouth and you will require the SKY HD receiver which will set you back around £49. SKY currently have 33 HD Channels available for viewers.
The other way you can currently watch HD programmes is to obtain a Blu-ray play. This HD disc was created by the Sony Corporation to before the next format after DVD. HD DVD format was also release by Toshiba to create a format war, but this was end by Toshiba in 2008.

Pro Plasma
- Response time on Plasma television are often quicker than LCD but over the years LCD’s screen have certainly started to catch up
- Viewing angles of plasma screen are often greater as they can be viewed upto 180 Degree and still retain the quality
- True black, with plasma tv’s this is often better than LCD screen as the black on LCD is often grey at best
- Larger sizes, can be produced.
LCD Pro’s
- Life time of and LCD screen can be upto twice as long as a plasma.
- Reduced screen burn in, where images and channel logos can often get burnt into the plasmas television screens
- Slimness, since LCD do not require the xenon and neon gases the LCD can often be slimmer than plasmas
- Power, LCD in general will use far less power than a plasma screen
- Brightness, LCD screens can often deliver better brightness, but this often is the case to help hide the fact of the reduced contrast
- Sharper picture can be provided from LCD, but some people prefer the smoothness of the plasma
Both types of television screen can be easily mounted on walls, with the aid of VESA mounts and most televisions come reinstalled with freeview receivers to help with the digital switch over

At the end of 2012, homes in the UK will have to switch over to digital TV, as the Government will be switching off the existing analogue TV service. .
Switchover will upgrade the transmission network. Switchover will upgrade the transmission network to the best available technology and ends the costs of broadcasting the same content on analogue and digital.
The Government has announced a Help Scheme for some people who may have difficulty in going digital. This scheme is being funded by the BBC licence fee. If you are eligible you will receive equipment, help with installation and follow-up support, either free or for a subsidised fee.
If you have an analogue TV set, you’ll still be able to use it after the switchover… you can view digital TV channels by connecting your TV to a digital TV receiver
